“Do It Once, Do It Right”

It may be our broadcast and documentary training that influenced the motto for our current business: “Do it once, do it right.” If you think about it, you might say the same thing about who you marry!

It’s just not something you want to keep second guessing yourself about.

We have literally seen the anxiety people experience when they pull out old photo albums they haven’t opened for years, and hand them to us for scanning. Yes, there are even tears!

Now imagine if somebody you don’t know removes all of these precious photos from the album, then feeds them in batches of 20 or 30 at a time through a high velocity, fast feed scanner – with few safeguards for snags, tears or the paper’s age.

I wouldn’t want my photos to be scanned that way!

This is why we looked for the highest quality and gentlest methods available when we started putting together our scanning workflow.

We chose Camera Scanning over other more automated methods.

With Camera Scanning, whether you have 100 photos, or 10,000, each photo is handled individually, dusted and evaluated in our LA studio. Then, we place one photo at a time under museum glass to smooth the surface, light it with photographic LEDs, and use a 45 megapixel Canon professional camera and lens system that captures up to 10X more detail than a fast-feed scanner.

In essence, we do “lights, camera, action” on every photo!

This level of image capture then allows us to use world class Adobe image software to enhance color and contrast (and perform restoration, if needed) with the same tools used in film, television, advertising and studio photography.

Love your memories, scan your photos, but treat them with the care they deserve.
